an special invitation

We’re looking for people who want to change the world, believe they can do it, and have decided to start now!

Everyone wants to change the world. But fear often gets in the way. Fear of suffering or making others suffer. Fear that one’s efforts might not make a difference.

Warriors without weapons are those who, despite these fears, take action anyway.

2009 Warriors Without Weapons

January 5 to February 5, 2009

Santos, Brazil

An invitation to whoever wants to roll up their sleeves and change the world!

“On the warrior’s path, it is up to you to discern which threads have been woven by divine hands and which have been woven by human hands. When you begin to discern the difference, you become a Txucarramãe — a warrior without weapons. Threads woven by human hands are alive with traces of their spirit. These hands create all kinds of things. Our hands and thoughts create many things to defend ourselves from the external world. When you discover what you have been doing with your life and how it is you dance through the world, little by little you let go of your weapons, those creations made to kill creations. Suddenly, you discover that when we stop creating enemies, we extinguish the need for weapons.”

(Kaká Werá Jecupé)

Do you want a better world?

Everybody wants to and can change the world! It can be done with play, with a free and spontaneous spirit, without suffering, and with confidence that you’ll make a difference!

Our reaction to tragedies, such as famine in Africa or the recent tsunami in Asia, reveals a natural human solidarity. It’s difficult to not be moved by these events, to do whatever we can to help. But many times we can do nothing more than passively witness the far away suffering. The challenge becomes to look around, see how there is so much to be done wherever we are, and start changing the world here and now!

Our methodology is designed to create this sense of solidarity in our day-to-day lives. We invert the saying, “Think globally, act locally.” As we see it, local actions always reverberate on a global level.

How do we play at transforming the world?

Our way of playing at transforming the world has four foundations:

SEE: Attention to what is beautiful, what is alive, and what moves us, even in the most degraded environments, so that it can be expanded.

FEEL: Emotional links as the starting point for establishing sustainable and cooperative relationships.

DREAM: Dreams, whether individual or collective, as the main motivator for transforming reality.

CooperatE: Working together as a way to revive the joy and power of cooperative action.
