Applications open for the Warriors Without Weapons July 2012!

The Warriors Without Weapons is an experiential international training about leadership and social entrepreneurship, offered to youth which are trained in technologies to transform realities anywhere in the world.

The Warriors Without Weapons is a course, but is very different from the traditional ways of teaching you may have seen so far.
Here you put your hands to work to make a collective dream of a better world a reality in 30 days!

HOW TO TRANSFORM A DREAM INTO REALITY

1.  Learn how to see abundance where most see scarcity.
2.  Create affection before fear and judgment.
3.  Value dreams and consider them the best way of working for material change.
4.  Walk together, taking care of ourselves, of each other and of a common dream all at the same time.
5. Guarantee results that are extraordinary and are given as a gift to oneself and to others.
6. Recognize and celebrate the contribution of each in the collective achievement.

It is not easy to put all these ideas into words, especially not in a language that is different from our native tongue. The philosophy developed by the Elos Institute relies on the main idea that we can change the world starting right away, with the resources that we have available. It is time to change our perception about how to collaborate in a truly collective way, to build a better world and to do so with pleasure.

In order to do this, we use the global knowledge of all the participants who are involved directly or indirectly, and at the end of a month, we transform a collective dream into reality, which turns out even better than we first imagined. In this process, you will be constantly invited and provoked to find and nurture your best, the best version of yourself, and from this place connect with the community and the environment around you.
Do not be surprised if you find yourself encountering your place in the world and your tribe, meeting people you always wanted as friends and companions on the journey of the rest of your life. The experience of Warriors Without Weapons is designed exactly to make this happen.

FOR YOU WHO HAVE DECIDED TO CHANGE THE WORLD NOW

We’d love to organize a Warrior Without Weapons (WWW) program without a limited number of participants. Unfortunately this is not possible because the infrastructure and the communities involved have the capacity of accommodating 60 people.
To solve this challenge of having a limited number of participants, we have created a selection process that takes place through an online game called The Way of the Warrior. To enter the game and play to the end is the first step toward participating in the WWW 2012. So if you’ve decided to participate, hurry and click on the link to sign up and play the game.
You will realize that even before arriving here, you’ll have the opportunity to do much to create change in yourself, in others and in the immediate world around you.

EVERYTHING IN LIFE HAS A PRICE

The program includes 240 hours of training, methodological materials, lodging, transportation in Santos and meals (breakfast and dinner). The total cost for each warrior is R$ 10,000 – half the cost is subsidized by the Elos Institute, through partnerships and investments from partners, and the other half is the responsibility of each participant. This means that, if selected, you will have to pay R$ 5,000.

But we do not want the financial difficulties to discourage you from participating in the Warriors Without Weapons! During the course of the selection process, you will receive guidance and support materials so you can also mobilize resources to enable your registration in the program. In the 12 years of Warriors Without Weapons program, several success stories can serve as examples and motivation:
- Amanda Hammes, from Blumenau, facilitated an Oasis for a major company which, in turn, paid her registration in the Warriors Without Weapons;
- Beatriz Pedreira contacted Emygdio Neto, a participant of the 2009 edition, and he made a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkwABdV2he0&feature=related)  about the professional benefits of participating in the program. This testimonial was inspiring enough to convince Beatriz’s boss to pay for her participation in the program;
- Leticia Tavares used a variety of strategies, which included organizing bazaars and parties, and made her blog a platform for creating a relationship with people who supported her. This is how she raised R$ 5,000 to pay the registration, the whole process is recorded on her blog (http://saldaterraguerreirossemarmas.wordpress.com/category/contribuicoes/ );
- Leo Duarte organized a bazaar to sell his and his friends’ old objects. He announced the event and made a great campaign that mobilized the resources needed to cover the costs of registration for the program;

Corporate registrations
For the Elos Institute’s fundraising efforts of actually meeting the needs of young people who require financial assistance, the entries made directly by companies have total cost of $ 10,000 per participant selected.

    I’ve never understood how organizations expect poor people to be able to afford these events. Or, how a person with little means could fly out to Brazil.

      Indeed, it is not possible in the logics of scarcity. But it is totally possible in the logics of abundance. In ten years youth from Africa, and different parts of Brazil found their way to Santos never minding if for them individually it was not possible. The resources are available; the network to support and nourish life exists. That’s how in the last edition it became possible for 3 youth from a village in Zimbabwe, the edition before for indigenous from south of Brazil and Acre. It requires energy, but totally doable for a Warrior Without Weapons.

    • hey, i saw your profile at gravatar and i would like to know more about your work cause i’m about to go to south africa i would aprreciatte some tips or recommendation about social entrepreneur. I just got a training on this subject and i’m trying to get as much involved as posible.

    Organizations like yours make my heart jump and fill my eyes with luck. I wish I could be part of this wonderful project but my financial status and the chosen time make it almost impossible for me (I say almost because nothing really is impossible, right? – assuming this is one of the basic mottos of you guys as well).
    Nevertheless I wish you all the best and hope you keep us uptodate with this blog!

    And oh, when will the next edition be?

I hope to hear from you again, and receive your application. If you are interested in apply click here >>

    it just a privilege to be part of a great family of positive thinkers like this since, this widens up the mind of an individual and gives the zeal of making a positive approach.

    I am from Nepal. How can I get scholarship for this event. I need travel fair from Nepal and registration charge. Is there any idea?

    • Val Rocha said:

      Hello Mohan, there is not a way to apply for a scholarship for the program, that’s because there isn’t a scholarship fund. Instead what we do is to fundraise and look for partners to support the program, we don’t have any supporters yet. Each participant need to fundraise for their expenses to travel to Brazil. Anyway, before all of that, one needs to be selected to be part of the program, and usually this is one of the main reasons to get supported by companies and organizations: the fact of you were selected among hundreds of talented people from all over the world.

  14. Great Val
    This is a good program that I think will help me to make postive change in my community and to make my dream become a reality. For very long time, I have been thinking what to do to restore peace and unity in my community that was broken due to the lacking of good leadership.
    Once again I say, I’ll do all I can to be member of the Warrior without Weapon

    Taatoe (meaning thanks in the Greebo dilect in Liberia).
